With just a few hours to go before NIGERIA decides who takes the wheel of service, rumours have been going around that the Independent National Electoral Commission is all set to postpone the general elections till a further date.
Earlier today the Commission announced that there was a probability of the elections not holding in some parts of the country as the electoral materials were missing.
Also, in Abia, Anambra and Plateau states, the INEC’s offices were set ablaze and quite a number were unable to retrieve their Permanent voter’s card, and thereby disenfranchised.
The postponement may not go down well with many and as a relief, National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity at INEC, Mr. Festus Okoye, cleared the air on Friday night that Nigerians should ignore the rumours.
Also the Commission in the spirit of Elections preparedness is holding a meeting with the Commissioners.
We’ll watch as its unfolds the coming hours.
