A 35-year-old man, Mohammed Manu, has disclosed that he murdered his wife, Hassana Bulo, for not allowing him to sleep with her. Manu was arrested by the police at Barusa village in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State. He said: “I hit her with a pestle on the head after she provoked me several times and constantly denied me sex.” The command said yesterday that a team of policemen attached to New Bussa Division apprehended Manu. The father of five allegedly murdered his wife, Hassana, for refusing him sex, for a period of time. It was learnt that the suspect had previously warned his wife of the dangers of starving him sex, almost on a daily basis.

“Time without num-ber, I have been warning my wife to stop refusing me sex and each time I demanded sex, she will treat me like a leper. “When I pressed further she pushed me by the side and I lost my temper.That was when I hit her with the pestle and she died on the spot,” the suspect said. When asked if he asked his late wife for her reasons for starving him of sex, he said: “She was fond of giving excuses each time I wanted to make love to her; she did not have any genuine reasons.
“How can my wife refuse my making love to her; it is an abomination where I come from. She does not have the right to do that, religiously or traditionally.” The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muhammad Abubakar, said “the suspect, who is from Barusa village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State confessed to have committed the crime on February 18, 2019 and the matter has been charged to court.”
